iLiad Part 2

Yes, war can take lives of thousands of people but that is not the only thing war can do. War can also break one's dignity. Yes, war can raise one's dignity if he wins the war, but if he looses he will not just loose in that war but he will also loose his dignity in his city. Yes this statement is true because once you loose a battle in-front of your men, their faith for you will lessen.

In the book of Iliad, you will find there the battle of the Trojans and the Greeks. In connection to my statement " Wars do not only claim lives but also destroys a man's character". In the book of Iliad Hector said goodbye to his father and his wife Andromache because Achilles went to their town to ask him for a battle. Hector by that time already knows that he will die because his destiny is to die first before Achilles. Hector removed his armors and helmet because his son is afraid of metals. On the way out, Hector grabbed his son and kissed him. The Trojans saw Hector die. Achilles killed Hector with no mercy because of his anger.

In that scene you will find that not only the life of Hector was killed, but his dignity and pride for his own town and family was also lessen. War does not only take lives of thousands of people, but also destroys one's dignity and pride.

  1. Hector died for his city. He chose his countrymen over his family. Why do you say he lost his dignity? Did he not defend his dignity by going into a battle with death as his fate? He just should have ran away, but he did otherwise? Was he not dignified? think AGAIN...
